Description
the window was created on a piece of debris reclaimed from the destruction of Hurricane Helene of 2024. Following the flood, gallerist, Rob Czart of Czart Gallery, reclaimed a number of artifacts from the wreckage and put a call for arts out to the artists of Asheville to turn these items into art.
I claimed this window since I imagined it would be a good time to doodle on with acrylic markers, which it very much was. Upon doodling on it, I noticed that the panes of glass turned into comic book panels. As I expressed my grief of the flood, I told my story in 5 parts, from the initial shock of telephone transformers exploding down the street, to gathering supplies with neighbors, then being displaced, then eventually returning to Asheville and beginning to rebuild with my community.
the window is ~4' x 3' ~15lbs (I have never weighed it so don't quote me on that.
