From 2022-2023, I was a utility forester who would have to spend time away from home working on transmission powerline right of ways in upstate South Carolina and all around WNC. I'd want to make art after work, but my work truck was too volatile a place for any art that couldn't take a beating. I tossed this slab of basswood (Tilia americana) in the back of the truck and painted it over the course of a couple months, but only when I'd be away from home on these work trips.
